Health Innovation Challenge

May 2023

Competed in the intercollegiate Health Innovation Challenge by Velocity, against thirty teams, to eliminate waiting rooms and decrease wait times in the Canadian healthcare system.

Worked in a team of four students to pitch a system level change to create a system level impact; "Rapid Relief" is an accelerated zone within the ER that specializes in treating acute, easily identifiable and treatable conditions, such as broken bones.

Progressed to the semi-finals of the competition.

Acute conditions require fewer resources and less time to treat; therefore, the RapidRelief zone will only need limited resources, such as equipment found in a first responders kit. The aim of the zone is to speed up the treatment process, as patients will be discharged immediately after being treated.
